It is a very common problem which we all face in our routine life. If your PC don't give you work effectively weather you have a latest upgraded versions of your hardware’s. Means latest configuration, you are not satisfied with the working of your computer. Then you should do this thing regularly to get good results from your computer.
1) If necessary then format your hard drives regularly.
2) After every use remove cookies and temporary files.
3) In internet explorer use blank page as your homepage.
4) Clean your computer every 20 day.
5) Remove floppy disk. (If not in use)
6) Remove all startup programs.
7) When it is not required then turns off "auto update" option and "firewall".
8) Remove printer and scanner before you start computer.
9) If windows ask you before welcome screen to scan a device then let it do.
10) And always disable auto update option of your anti-virus.
These are some ways, if we regularly take care of these steps then I give you a guarantee that your computer is 100% secure.
For start up, On BIOS side always select quick boot if necessary then select the first boot device as a CD-ROMs
Other wise first boot device always "IDE-O"
